ContentSpy ("we", "us", "our") is a desktop application for competitor content analysis. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data Storage
ContentSpy is a privacy-first desktop application. All competitor research data, transcriptions, analyses, and settings are stored locally on your computer. We do not operate servers that store your research data.
3. What We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to operate the service:
- License activation: Your email address and a device identifier to verify your license.
- Payment information: Processed securely by our payment provider (shown at checkout). We never store credit card details.
- Crash reports: Anonymous, opt-in crash reports to improve stability. No personal data is included.
- Website analytics: Anonymous page views on contentspy.co (no cookies, no personal tracking).
4. Third-Party Services
ContentSpy integrates with third-party services that you configure:
- OpenAI: Your API key is stored locally. Transcription and AI data is sent directly from your device to OpenAI per their privacy policy.
- Apify: Your API key is stored locally. Data retrieval requests go directly from your device to Apify per their privacy policy.
- Payment provider: Handles payments and license delivery. The specific provider is shown at checkout; see their privacy policy for details.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared as described in Section 4 (third-party integrations you configure) and as required by law.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold (limited to email and license info)
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your local data at any time (it is already on your computer)
7. Children's Privacy
ContentSpy is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. GDPR (EU Users)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to object: Object to processing of your personal data.
